Outline (1):

This inspiring course is addressed to primary and secondary school teachers of any specialization, anyone who would like to enrich their repertoire of teaching techniques and ideas and anyone interested in studying the science behind natural and man-made places of interest (e.r. National Parks, museums, eco-farms, city historic centres, archaelogical sites, nature trails, botanic gardens) and their interconnection with environmental education/education for sustainable development. 

​Course Venue (1):

The course will be based in Nicosia, the capital of Cyprus. In order to conduct the practical modules, there will be visits to the Troodos mountain range, and Cape Greko located in the South-Eastern coast of the island. All transporation costs are provided by the organizer and are included in the price.  (1)

​Course Objetives (1) :

1. To experience various instructional approaches connecting to Environmental Education/Education for Sustainable Development through the use of various non-formal settings such as museums, places of natural interest, eco-farms, and to reflect on the contribution and impact of such approaches in education.  

2. To provide theoretical and empirical experiences pertaining to adult education in non-formal settings, and their contribution towards developing knowledge and skills for active citizenship and quality of life.  

3. To develop innovating practices in adult education that can be shared between different European counterparts.

4. To enhance personal and social development for sustainable living.

5. To integrate history, environment and culture using non-formal education.

6. To provide a network for future projects.

​Methods (1) :

A variety of methods will be implemented to provide a state-to-the-art seminar and networking for future partnerships. Specifically, the course will include several experiential modules taking place outdoors, in non-formal settings, combined with lectures from outdoor educators, environmental and art specialists. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in workshops implementing techniques used in non-formal settings.
